Data and Cloud Architect – MDLand

Role Summary:
MDLand is seeking a seasoned Data and Cloud Architect with deep AWS expertise to lead the transformation of our on-premise infrastructure to a scalable, secure, and compliant cloud-native environment. This role will drive our architecture, backup, disaster recovery, and security strategy in alignment with HITRUST and ISO standards.
Primary Focus: AWS architecture, data strategy, security design, DR planning.
Key Responsibilities:
- AWS Expertise (Lead): Design the cloud-native architecture on AWS (VPCs, IAM, EC2, S3, RDS, networking, security groups, WAF, Shield). Lead the migration strategy. Optimize for performance, reliability, scalability, and cost.
- Data Backup & DR Strategy (Lead): Design the strong data backup strategy (including close to real-time, cross-cloud, immutable snapshots). Define RPO/RTO. Design the overall Disaster Recovery protocol.
- Security Architecture (Shared/Lead): Define security principles for the AWS environment. Work with consultants on security assessments, interpret findings, and translate them into actionable architectural changes. Ensure cloud assets are secured.
- Initial Migration & Setup: Hands-on lead for migrating services and data from on-premises data center to AWS.
- Vendor/Consultant Management: Primary interface for security consultants.
- Documentation: Critical for architecture, DR plans, and security posture.
- Support for Certifications: Provide architectural evidence for HITRUST/ISO.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in AWS architecture, cloud security, and DR planning.
- Strong understanding of healthcare data protection and compliance (HIPAA, HITRUST, ISO).
- Proven experience in large-scale data migrations.
